I started shooting photographs when I was 10 on my mom’s SLR. I started working in Photoshop circa 1996. When photography went digital (and I bought a whopping 2.3 megapixel camera) things got much more interesting.
I used to shoot almost exclusively landscapes and scenic shots. I still love them.
I love the connection of physiology, human psychology and physics in photography, and exploring what makes a picture (or a scene) aesthetically pleasing to us.
The biggest thing I have worked on is making a photograph recreate the emotion we feel when we see a scene, or making a photograph look how we remember it. It was always frustrating to me when I got home from a trip and the pictures just didn’t look as dramatic on film as I remember them when I saw them first person.
I am currently based out of Seattle, Wa and work with my stunning wife, Jill.
